This is a good all-purpose Norwegian cheese, which resembles Swiss/Emmenthal in both appearance and flavour, but is more delicate and sweeter, with no nutty aftertaste. The body is golden-yellow with round holes of various sizes. It is also available in a "lite" version, which is low in sodium, cholesterol and fat and in a tasty smoked version. Jarlsberg goes well with a wide assortment of foods and snacks, and is a great luncheon cheese.
