Rennet Tablets (Microbial)

Rennet Tablets can be used to make all types of cheese.  Their function is to coagulate milk. The most widely used vegetable rennet is made from a mold called Mucor miehei. This is the variety carried by Springbank Cheese. Although classified as a vegetable rennet, it is actually microbial.

The advantages of using rennet tablets, as opposed to liquid rennet, include the fact that they are easy to divide and measure, are more readily available, and last for several years on the shelf.

Sold in boxes of two sizes, the Rennet Tablets carried by Springbank Cheese are intended for hobbyists. They are medium sized and whitish in colour and come in a blister pack. One tablet is used for fifty (50) litres of milk.
