In 1960, Frank Hemsworth (centre) founded Crescent Cheese Storage in the Woodstock, Ontario building (top left photograph) that is now the head office of Springbank Cheese. Cheese was stored and graded at the firm as it was being aged. Today, more than 60 years later, Springbank Cheese remains in the family. Tom Hemsworth (right), General Manager, is proud to have built upon what his father started. Springbank Cheese, now with facilities in Calgary, Alberta, as well as Woodstock, is in the cheese cutting, packaging, storage, and distribution business. In 1980, the firm was renamed after the Springbank Snow Countess, Woodstock’s celebrated Holstein “world champion milk producer.” Pictured above is the statue in her memory that was erected in 1937 on the former site of Springbank Farm on Dundas Street, Woodstock.

Our Woodstock facility is licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and covered by the Safe Foods for Canadians Act.
